Sponsored by the UMD Traditions Council and created as a result of meetings with our student members, Champ Chase is a brand-new scavenger hunt competition that will have you wandering around campus looking at things just a little differently.

Think Hidden Mickey, but make it Bulldog. 🐾

Each UMD building that is accessible to all students has a Hidden Champ waiting to be found. (Residence Halls and Apartments are excluded.)

And these aren't giant Bulldogs sitting in the middle of a hallway screaming, "HERE I AM!"

Each Hidden Champ is hidden in plain sight. Some are obvious. Some blend into the background. Some may make you wonder how you walked past them 47 times without noticing.

And once you find one?

You will never be able to unsee it.

Find as many of the 26 Hidden Champs as you can and take a picture with each one!

Your face AND the Hidden Champ must both be visible in the picture.

The more Hidden Champs you find, the more prize drawings you become eligible for!

Your highest level of completion determines which drawings you are eligible for. You do not need to find exactly the number listed — you just need to reach that level.

Level 1 - Find 15–19 different Hidden Champs and you'll be entered into a drawing for a $25 UMD Stores gift card.

Level 2 - Find 20–25 different Hidden Champs and you'll be entered into both:

• 💰 The $25 UMD Stores gift card drawing
• 📺 The 40" Roku TV drawing

Level 3 - Find all 26 Hidden Champs and you'll be entered into all three prize drawings:

• 💰 The $25 UMD Stores gift card
• 📺 The 40" Roku TV
• 🎮 The Nintendo Switch 2 Console

15–19 Champs → Gift Card drawing

20–25 Champs → Gift Card + TV drawings

26 Champs → Gift Card + TV + Nintendo Switch 2 drawings

The more Champs you find, the more drawings you get to enter. Find all 26 and you've unlocked the whole prize lineup!

Each participant may win only one prize.

If a participant is selected in a prize drawing, they will be removed from any remaining prize drawings, and another eligible participant will be selected for those prizes.

So if you find all 26 and your name gets pulled for the gift card, you don't also get to walk away with a TV and a Nintendo Switch 2. We love your enthusiasm, but we're spreading the wealth. 😂

To submit your entry, email your Champ photos to [email protected].

Your email needs to include:

• Your first and last name
• Your UMD email address
• One photo for each unique Hidden Champ you've found
• Make sure your face, the Hidden Champ, AND the Champ's number are visible in each photo.

You can submit up to 26 photos — one for each Hidden Champ.

Your email submission is your official entry, so please send all of your photos in one email. Multiple entries from the same person will not be accepted.

📅 Deadline: Your email must be received by 12:00 PM on October 11, 2026

Label your photos if you can! Including the Champ's number in the photo is required, but naming your files something like Champ_01.jpg, Champ_02.jpg, etc. will make everyone's lives easier.

Check before you hit send! Once your entry is submitted, you won't be able to add photos through a second entry. Make sure you've included all the Champs you want counted before sending that email.

Found 15? Send 15.

Found 20? Send 20.

1. Entries will be accepted from 12:00 PM on October 4, 2026 through 12:00 PM on October 11, 2026. Photos taken before the official start time will not count.

2. Only one entry per person will be accepted. Multiple entries will not be accepted. Each entry will be tied to the email address from which it is submitted. If more than one person is in a picture, the email address used to submit the entry will be the person entered into the prize drawings.

3. Each Hidden Champ is numbered so we can keep track of which ones you've found. The number must be visible in your photo, along with your face and the Hidden Champ. Each numbered Champ can only count once toward your total. So, unfortunately, taking 26 selfies with Champ #12 will not get you to Level 3.

4. Your photo must clearly show your face and the Hidden Champ. Photos where the Champ or your face cannot reasonably be identified may not count.

5. All Hidden Champs are located in public areas of their respective buildings. There are NO Hidden Champs inside classrooms. Do not enter classrooms, staff-only areas, locked areas, construction areas, or other restricted spaces to find a Champ. If a door says you shouldn't go through it, please don't go through it for the sake of the Champ.

6. Hidden Champs are meant to be found, not relocated. Do not move, remove, cover, alter, decorate, damage, or otherwise interfere with a Hidden Champ. All Hidden Champs will be monitored throughout the competition. If you are discovered to have removed, moved, damaged, or otherwise tampered with a Champ, your entry will be disqualified and you will not be allowed to continue in the competition.

7. Please be respectful of classes, offices, events, and other people using campus spaces while you're hunting. No interrupting classes, moving furniture, blocking hallways, or creating a campus-wide Champ-related incident. We want this to be fun. We do not want to have to explain to a professor why 14 people just ran into their classroom looking for a Bulldog.

8. All photos submitted must be taken during the official Champ Chase competition period — October 4 at 12:00 PM through October 11 at 12:00 PM. No digging through your camera roll for that random photo you took in the last couple days that happens to contain a hidden Champ.

9. Prize winners will be selected at random from eligible entries after the competition closes. Each participant may win only one prize. If a participant is selected in a prize drawing, they will be removed from any remaining prize drawings, and another eligible participant will be selected. Winners will be contacted using the email address submitted with their entry.

10. If a Hidden Champ is accidentally damaged, removed, or becomes inaccessible during the competition through circumstances outside of a participant's control, the Traditions Council will determine how that Champ will be handled for purposes of the competition.

There are 26 Hidden Champs scattered across campus. Each one is located in a different building or campus location.

So if you're looking for Champ #7, don't just head to the seventh building on this list. You'll have to actually find it. 😉
