Students walking in Homecoming Parade

Something for Every Bulldog

Homecoming is more than a single game or event—it’s an entire week of celebration. Take part in student activities, discover new traditions, cheer on the Bulldogs, reconnect with old friends, and make memories that will last long after the week is over.

Whether you’re looking for a little friendly competition, a chance to get involved in the UMD community, or simply an excuse to celebrate with your friends, you’ll find plenty of ways to get into the Homecoming spirit.

Show Your Bulldog Spirit

Break out your maroon and gold and get ready to celebrate! Gather your friends, join your favorite Homecoming traditions, and help make campus the place to be all week long.

Come Home to UMD

For alumni and friends, Homecoming is an opportunity to return to campus, reconnect with the people and places that shaped your UMD experience, and create new memories with the Bulldog community. For current students, it’s a chance to experience some of the traditions that make UMD Homecoming unique.

No matter how you’re connected to UMD, you’re part of the Bulldog family—and Homecoming is your invitation to celebrate with us.

Mark your calendar, grab your maroon and gold, and get ready for an unforgettable week.

Homecoming 5K Run/Walk | Race Starts 5 PM | Malosky Stadium

A new UMD tradition starts here. Get ready to run, walk, race, and celebrate Homecoming with your UMD community at the 1st Annual UMD Homecoming 5K! We’re creating a brand-new Homecoming tradition on campus that brings together UMD students, employees, alumni, and the community for an evening of maroon, gold, school spirit, and a little friendly competition. And we’re making the first one a big one.

Website Link: z.umn.edu/homecoming5k

We are excited to announce that Grandma’s Marathon is sponsoring the inaugural UMD Homecoming 5K, with Duluth Timing & Events providing official chip timing for race day. We’ve also created a brand-new 5K route through campus, using sidewalks only, so you’ll get to experience UMD in a whole new way.  Whether you’re a serious runner looking to chase a time, a casual runner, a walker, or just here to have fun with friends, this race is for you. Throw on your best maroon and gold, grab your friends, roommates, classmates, coworkers, or alumni crew, and help us start something that we hope becomes one of UMD’s favorite Homecoming traditions.

Make Your Miles Matter - Champs Cupboard

This event is also about giving back to our UMD community. 100% of community registration proceeds will benefit Champ’s Cupboard, helping combat food insecurity among UMD students. UMD employees and alumni are encouraged to make a monetary donation to Champ’s Cupboard or bring a donation item with them on race day.

We Provide:

  • Official race-day chip timing by Duluth Timing & Events
  • A brand-new 5K route through the UMD campus
  • Post-race snacks provided by UMD Dining Services
  • A Homecoming experience built around UMD school spirit
  • The opportunity to be part of the first-ever UMD Homecoming 5K

What You Provide: Your best maroon and gold UMD attire and the fun. Come dressed in your school colors, get your friends involved, make some signs, bring the energy, and help us kick off what we hope becomes a new UMD tradition.
